Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) is trading higher as international crude oil prices snapped their six day’s gaining streak and lost around two percent on Wednesday.
HPCL is currently trading at Rs 255.25, up by 1.75 points or 0.69% from its previous closing of Rs 253.50 on the BSE.
The scrip opened at Rs 251.80 and has touched a high and low of Rs 257.80 and Rs 251.80 respectively. So far 14381 shares were traded on the counter.
The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 419.50 on 27-Jun-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs 249.05 on 21-Dec-2011.
Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 269.20 and Rs 251.75 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 8716.27 crore.
The promoters holding in the company stood at 51.11% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 37.85% and 11.04% respectively.
Crude prices snapped their six day’s gaining streak and lost around two percent on Wednesday, the European concerns weighed on the crude prices after a surge in the European Central Bank’s balance sheet to a record, highlighted the growing risks of the region’s debt crisis and threatening fuel demand. Though, tensions with Iran, continued to keep a floor under prices, and traders are awaiting signs of what is next.
Tehran said on Tuesday it would stop oil transiting through the Strait of Hormuz if sanctions were imposed on its crude oil exports because of its nuclear ambitions.
Benchmark crude for February delivery settled down $1.98, or 2%, to $99.36 or a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. In London, Brent crude settled down $1.71, or 1.6%, to $107.56 a barrel on the ICE.
