Lupin to make second buy in Japan

02 Nov 2010 Evaluate

The drug-maker Lupin is looking to make one more acquisition in this market. Lupin already has a wholly-owned subsidiary, Kyowa Pharmaceuticals in Japan.

Lupin will make an acquisition in the area of interest only and with a strategic reason to it. The company has not decided the size of the acquisition yet. For the three months under review, Kyowa Pharmaceuticals grew by 22 per cent, clocking net sales of Rs 156 crore, and contributed 11 per cent to Lupin's consolidated revenues.

Lupin would look to launch another 8-10 products in the forthcoming year. The company's strategy of differentiated products in segments such as oral contraceptives and ophthalmology are set to deliver. The first basket of products would come into the market in September. The company's research-spend stands pegged at about 8 per cent of sales.crackcrack
