Tata Power trades higher on the bourses

Tata Power Company is currently trading at Rs. 99.20, up by 2.30 points or 2.37% from its previous closing of Rs. 96.90 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 98.90 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 99.50 and Rs. 97.95 respectively. So far 66,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 135.69 on 18-Jan-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 80.65 on 20-Dec-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 99.50 and Rs. 92.80 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 23,540.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 31.81% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 48.66% and 16.30% respectively.

Tata Power Company commissioned a unit of its 4,000 mw power station at Mundra in Gujarat, becoming the country’s first ultra mega power project (UMPP) to generate electricity.

The project at Mundra in Kutch district of Gujarat shall have five units of 800 MW each generating 4,000 MW of power using supercritical technology. The first unit was slated to be ready for commissioning by September 2011.

Power Finance Corporation (PFC), the nodal agency for these UMPPs, has so far awarded four such projects. The other three projects -- Sasan (Madhya Pradesh), Krishnapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and Tilaiya (Jharkhand) -- have been bagged by Reliance Power.
