Shree Cement has lined up a major expansion plan in both its key businesses cement and power. It is planning to take up its cement production capacity to 12 million tonne from the present 10 million tonne and power generation capacity to 265 mw from 115 mw by June next year. The expansion will entail a total investment of Rs 1,300 crore. By September 2011, Shree Cement plans to add another 300 mw of power capacity in Rajasthan.

It has already invested Rs 700 crore for capacity expansion and another Rs 600 crore would be invested in the coming months. It has already received limestone licences for new units to be set up in Karnataka, Rajasthan and Chhatisgarh. Currently, it is facing a problem of land acquisition in these states. However, the company hopes to acquire land within the next two to three years after clearing the issues with land owners and start construction. The brownfield expansion of the cement unit will take place in Pali district of Rajasthan. Infrastructural facilities like roads, rails and colonies are already in existence. crackcrack
