Deccan Chronicle invites bids from prospective buyers for Deccan Chargers

Deccan Chronicle Holdings (DCHL) issued a tender notice inviting bids from prospective buyers for its Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket team Deccan Chargers, which is up for sale. According to the invitation to tender issued by DCHL, the winning bidder will acquire Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket team on an 'as is where is' basis and will have to clear the liabilities of the current owner.  Further, the invitation to tender and the bid document can be acquired from the BCCI office in Mumbai from September 7 upon a payment of Rs 5 lakh. However, the last day for submitting bids will be September 13.

Deccan Chronicle group in 2008 had acquired the franchise - Deccan Chargers for $107 million which represents the city of Hyderabad in the IPL. The team after finishing last in the first season of the IPL, won the second season held in South Africa in 2009, under the captaincy of former Australian wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist. Gilchrist was the captain of the team for the first three seasons of the IPL.
