Andhra Bank slips as RBI imposes penalty of Rs 25 lakh for non-compliance

Andhra Bank is currently trading at Rs. 18.05, down by 0.20 points or 1.10% from its previous closing of Rs. 18.25 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 18.25 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 18.25 and Rs. 18.00 respectively. So far 6240 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 33.30 on 01-Apr-2019 and a 52 week low of Rs. 15.10 on 15-Oct-2019.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 19.20 and Rs. 18.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 5401.92 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 87.81%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 4.15% and 8.04% respectively.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed monetary penalty of Rs 25 lakh on Andhra Bank for non-compliance with certain provisions of directions issued on KYC and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) standards and opening of current accounts.

The penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers vested in RBI under the provisions of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, taking into account the failure of the bank to adhere to the aforesaid directions issued by RBI. Based on a complaint, an examination of current accounts opened by two entities in the bank was carried out and it was observed that the bank had failed to comply with certain provisions of RBI directions.
