Concor to commission perishable cargo centre at Singur

Container Corporation of India (Concor) is likely to commission perishable cargo centre at Singur, Hooghly district, West Bengal. The company has laid the foundation stone for the project in November 2009.  It has invested Rs 6 crore for the cargo centre, which has a total area of 1,700 sq. meters.

The cargo centre has the capacity of 1,430 tonnes with CIPC technology for cooling purpose - 1,000 tonnes for storing potato and another 430 tonnes for fruits and vegetables. It also has a dedicated ventilated and insulated rake to facilitate transportation of potato from Singur to other parts of the country.

This will be Concor's second such facility in the State after at Siliguri. Built by the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority, the facility, which was originally created for air cargo, was subsequently handed over to Concor.
