About Mac Charles (India) Ltd

Mac Charles (India), incorporated on October 28, 1979, is engaged in the hospitality business with business integrated into the five-star hotel Le Meridien Bangalore. It is part of the global Le Meridien hotel group, which has a portfolio of more than 120 luxury and upscale hotels in over 50 countries worldwide including top cities and resorts throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Africa, and the Americas.

Le Meridien Bangalore has 195 rooms and suites with banquet halls such as The Orchid, The Dominion, Embassy, Utsav, Senate and Coronet. A whole separate level has been provided for the business centers and has several bars and lounges like the La Brasserie, La Boulangerie, Noir Bar & Lounge and Jashn. It participates in frequent flyer programs offered by the world`s leading airlines.

The registered office of the company is located at Le Meridien Bangalore, 28, Sankey Road, Bangalore-560052.

History

  • 1979 - The company was incorporated on 28th October. The important object of the company was to set up a five star Hotel at Bangalore.
  • 1987 - The company's authorised capital was increased from 6 crore to 8 crore.
  • 1987 - The foreign collaboration of the company with Holiday Inn. Inc., a Division of BASS PLC London.    
  • 1987 - Kapi Investment Inc, Isle of Man, is the holding company of Mac Charles (India).
  • 1991 - It held 2,807,300 equity share of the total 48,75,000 equity shares forming the issued, subscribed and paid up capital of the company as on 31st March.
  • 1997 - The company finally signed the franchise agreement with Le Meridien for the next 10 years with effect from 1st July.
  • 2000 - The promoters of the company bought back 2,00,000 shares of Rs 10 each of the company held by IDBI of Rs 30 per share.
  • 2001 - The company acquired 39.67 per cent equity shares of the total issued and paid-up equity share capital of 3,00,00,000 equity shares of Rs 10 each of Bramha Bazaz Hotels, Pune, which owns Hotel Le Meridien, Pune.
  • 2002- Mac Charles (India) acquires 100% stake in two private companies, Vaswani Properties and Vaswani Investments and Holdings
