Tea production in India decline by 12.47% to 96.10 miilion kg in January-March period of 2024

The Tea Board in its latest data has showed that tea production in India declined by 12.47% to 96.10 miilion kg in January-March period of 2024 from 109.79 million kg in the corresponding period of 2023. Of the total, tea output in North India slipped 33.22% to 47.57 miilion kg in the reporting period as compared to 71.23 miilion kg in the same period a year ago. However, tea production in South India increased by 19.12% to 48.53 miilion kg in the period under review over 40.74 miilion kg in the same period a year ago.

As per the data, Assam production of tea fell 39.20% to 20.89 miilion kg in January-March period of 2024 as compared to 34.36 miilion kg in January-March period of 2023, while West Bengal tea production declined 22.88% to 25.34 miilion kg in the reporting period over 32.86 miilion kg in the same period a year ago.

However, production of tea in Tamil Nadu rose 24.49% to 33.19 miilion kg in January-March period of 2024 as compared to 26.66 miilion kg in January-March period of 2023, while Kerala production was up by 10.34% to 14.40 miilion kg in the period under review as compared to 13.05 miilion kg in the same period a year ago.
