Ledo Tea Company is engaged in the business of growing and processing tea. It was incorporated on April 19, 1983.
The company has tea plantations in the Tinsukia district of Assam. The estate has a processing factory capable of producing both orthodox and CTC products simultaneously with an installed capacity of 1,100 tonnes. In FY07, the company incurred a capital expenditure of Rs 33.29 lakh towards expansion and modernization of the factory and creation of new assets and Rs 11.33 lakh towards new plantations.
The registered office of the company is located at Sir R N Mukherjee House, 3-B Lal Bazar Street, Kolkata 700001.
1983 - The company was incorporated on April 19, to acquire Ledo Tea Estate, Assam from Duncan's Agro Industries Ltd. The Certificate of Commencement of Business was obtained on April 29, 1983. The company belongs to the Sumira Group. It was promoted by R S Singhania and his associates and managed by professionals.
1994 - The company spent Rs. 28.55 lakh towards further modernization of the factory and creation of new assets including Rs 2.26 lakh for a new plantation.
1995 - Production of the company was affected due to damage to the crop by floods.
2003- The shareholders approved the delisting company's equity shares from Calcutta, Delhi & Gauhati Stock Exchanges.
