Barak Valley Cements (BVCL) incorporated in 1999, is engaged in the business of manufacturing cement. Company is promoted by Mr. Prahlad Rai Chamaria, Mr. Bijay Kumar Garodia and Mr. Santosh Kumar Bajaj. In 2001, company started its commercial production with a plant capacity of 300 TPD. Later capacity of this plant was increased to 460 TPD.  

Company’s manufacturing facility is located at Karimganj, Assam. It uses dry process rotary kiln technology with 4 stage suspension pre heater technology. Its operations include raw material procurement, crushing, blending, grinding and packaging of cement.

Presently it manufactures various grades of OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) and PPC (Portland Pozzolana Cement). BVCL markets its product under the brand name “Valley Strong Cement”.

The production capacity of cement is 750 TPD and clinkerisation capacity is 600 TPD. Company sells its products in North Eastern region in India. Company has received ISO 9001: 2000 certification for its quality management.

Company has customer base that comprises of individuals, contractors, builders, institutions and government agencies. Under its institutional and Government customers company has clientele namely Director General Of Supplies & Disposals (DGS&D), 19th Assam Rifals, Executive Engineer Rural Development, ONGC, BSF, etc.

Subsidiaries

Company has the following companies as its wholly owned subsidiaries:-

Badarpur Energy (BEPL) is a private limited company has set up 6MW Biomass captive Power Plant at Badarpurghat Assam. This facility commenced operation in February, 2008. Power generated from BEPL is supplied to BVCL to overcome the problem of power shortage and frequent power cuts.

Cement International (CIL) has Cement Grinding Capacity of 300 TPD. The plant of this company is located at Badarpurghat Assam. CIL uses the clinker as raw material supplied by BVCL and other clinker producers and after grinding, sells the same under the brand name “Valley Strong” cement.

Meghalaya Minerals and Mines (MMML) has established 800 TPD Limestone Crushing plant at Lumshnong, Meghalaya. The entire requirement of limestone of BVCL is met from MMML.

Future Plans

Barak Valley Cements is planning to increase the quantum of production, turnover and profitability of the company in future.
