Tata Motors rolls out 3 trucks for construction, mining sectors

Tata Motors unveiled three trucks from the Prima Construct global platform range designed for use in the construction and mining industries. The company, which accounts for nearly 70 per cent share in this business segment, also outlined plans to launch more models on the Prima platform by the middle of next year. The company plans to export these trucks from its manufacturing bases in South Korea. The trucks will also be manufactured at a plant in Jamshedpur, which has the capacity to produce about 50,000 vehicles a year.

As the trucks are built on a platform, which is modular, the company can manufacture over 1,000 variants. They also offer the flexibility to customize for certain requirements it in the construction and mining industries. These three models have been developed for road construction, irrigation projects and mining projects. Apart from heavy haulage capability, the trucks provide great comfort for the driver due to the air-conditioned cabins.

The Tata Prima range, of which Construck range is a part, comprises of about 10 major variants of multi-axle trucks, tractor trailers, tippers, mixers and special application vehicles. The range has been developed by Tata Motors and two of its subsidiaries, Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Company based in South Korea and Tata Motors European Technical Centre plc in the UK.
