Wipro shows interest to associate with AP Government
Date: 24-12-2011Wipro, India’s third largest IT bellwether has expressed its interest to be associated with the State Government of Andhra Pradesh. The software giant has come forward to provide necessary assistance for setting up a mega traffic surveillance system in Hyderabad.
As part of the city-level infrastructure improvement project, by using 1,000 closed-circuit cameras, the system is planned to be put in place at all the traffic junctions.
Recently, Wipro had been selected as an IT partner for a multi-million dollar engagement with AstraZeneca, a leading global biopharmaceutical company. However, the deal size was not disclosed.
Wipro’s net profit for the second quarter of the current fiscal declined by 10.37% at Rs 1050.6 crore as compared to Rs 1172.1 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. The company’s total income increased by 19.69% at Rs 8011.5 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs 6693.7 crore for the second quarter of the previous year.
