-3.25 (-0.55%) Hindustan Zinc has reportedly entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rajasthan government to build 30,000 toilets in rural areas under the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan. The cost of construction of each toilet is fixed at Rs 8,500. The State government would pay Rs 4,600, while Hindustan Zinc would chip in Rs 3,000 and Rs 900 would be pooled in by the villagers.
The company is planning to spend around Rs 8.6 crore in constructing the toilets. To be completed in three years, the toilets are expected to make 80 rural and tribal villages in Rajasthan free from open defecation. So far, the company has constructed 8,000 toilets.
Hindustan Zinc manufactures three qualities of zinc -- special high grade zinc used in construction, infrastructure, household appliances etc; high grade zinc and prime western zinc. It manufactures silver used in photographic material, conductor, jewellery, etc.
