Tesco’s JV, Trent is planning to operate food, grocery stores under 'Star' brand. The JV, which is planning to open 3-5 stores in a year, would be initially focusing on Maharashtra, Karnataka.

British supermarket chain Tesco Plc, back in March 2014, entered into an agreement with Trent, part of the Tata group, to form a 50:50 joint venture in Trent Hypermarket (THL) which operates the Star Bazaar retail business in India.

Trent is part of the Tata Group and is engaged in business of retailing. Trent acquired 76% stake in Landmark, one of the largest books and music retail chains in the India.
