Bharti Airtel rings loud on the bourses

Bharti Airtel is currently trading at Rs. 378.25, up by 1.35 points or 0.36% from its previous closing of Rs. 376.90 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 380.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 385.70 and Rs. 377.40 respectively. So far 92911 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A ' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 386.80 on 01-Aug-2014 and a 52 week low of Rs. 279.25 on 28-Aug-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 385.70 and Rs. 363.45 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 152680.70 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 65.37% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 24.90% and 9.72% respectively.

Bharti Airtel is reportedly in advanced stage of discussion with American Tower Corporation (ATC) and Eaton Towers for selling its tower assets in several African countries, including Nigeria, Ghana and Uganda. The deal is likely to be in the range of $1.5-2 billion. The proceeds from the deal is likely to be used for reduction of debt. The net debt of the company at the end of June 2014 stood at Rs 57,744.3 crore.

Airtel had in July sold 3,100 telecom towers in four African countries to Helios Towers Africa for an undisclosed sum. The company now has around 14,500 towers left in Africa.
