Lakshmi Energy to launch branded basmati rice soon

Rice processor Lakshmi Energy and Foods will soon enter the branded basmati rice space with pan-India roll-out of a premium variety. The packaged basmati pusa rice will be sold under ‘Lakshmi Foods’ brand. The company currently sells basmati rice in bulk both in domestic as well as international market. With its entry into the branded segment, LEAF will be competing with established premium brands such as India Gate, Lal Kila, Kohinoor and Tilda.

The company has a paddy processing capacity of 1.25 million tonnes and aims to process 1.6 lakh tonnes of basmati rice and 2.5 lakh tonnes of non-basmati rice in the current marketing year (October-September).
