Tata Motors sells 40,883 vehicles in August

Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in August 2014 were 40,883 vehicles, a decline of 18% over 49,611 vehicles sold in August 2013. The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for August 2014 were 36,403 nos., 19% decline over 44,717 units sold in August last year. Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal were 190,476 units, lower by 25% over 254,355 units, sold last year.

The company’s sales of commercial vehicles in August 2014 in the domestic market were 25,428 units, a 23% decline compared to 33,153 vehicles sold in August last year. LCV sales were 16,287 units, a decline of 35% over August last year, while M&HCV sales stood at 9,141 units, a growth of 11%, over August last year. The cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal stood at 126,682 units, lower by 28% over last year. Cumulative LCV sales was 80,658 nos., a decline of 37% over last year, while M&HCV sales stood at 46,024 nos., lower by 7% over last year.

The sales of passenger vehicles for August 2014 were at 10,975 units, lower by 5% over 11,564 vehicles sold in August 2013. Sales of the passenger cars in August 2014 were 8,229 units, lower by 6% over 8,761 vehicles sold in August 2013. The sales of utility vehicles were 2,746 units, declined by 2% over 2,803 vehicles, sold in August last year. Cumulative sales of passenger vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are 44,724 units, lower by 21% over last year. Cumulative sales of the passenger cars this fiscal was 33,450 vehicles, lower by 25%, over last year.  The utility vehicles sales stood at 11,274 units, 7% decline over 12,116 nos., sold last year.

On the export front, the company’s sales from exports were 4,480 vehicles in August 2014, declined by 8% compared to 4,894 vehicles in August last year. The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal at 19,070 vehicles, was lower by 7% over 20,606 vehicles, over last year.
