NTPC, in consortium with partners consisting of Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL), Power Finance Corporation (PFC), Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), PTC India (PTC) and Gujarat Power Corporation (GPCL), has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 01, 2014 with Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE).

The MoU is for undertaking development of Offshore Wind Power projects and its evacuation & integration into the grid though a Joint Venture Company (JVC) to be incorporated in this regard.

NTPC is the largest power generating company in the country. It has also diversified into hydro power, coal mining, power equipment manufacturing, oil & gas exploration, power trading & distribution.
