NTPC is expected to invest over Rs 8,000 crore in Gujarat to commission a coal-based project with a power generation capacity of 1,320 MW. The investment might be scaled up to Rs 10,000 crore if the power utility major gets desired resources for a project size of 1,980 MW.
Besides, the Gujarat government is seeking 50% of the power to be generated from the proposed project. The Gujarat government has offered 1,200 acres at Dhuvaran in Anand district, where Gujarat State Electricity Corporation owns and operates 440 MW of generation capacity.
The upcoming thermal power project will have two units of 660 MW super critical technology and NTPC is aiming to set up the third unit of 660 MW at the same location. The proposed project will depend on imported and domestic coal. crackcrack
