NTPC is planning to set up its first wind energy project in the country. In this regard, the company is awaiting forest department clearance. The 100-MW project, with an estimated cost of Rs 650 crore is to come up at Guledagudda in Bagalkot district in Karnataka.

A few months ago, the company floated tenders but was not successful, and now it is again making efforts to float tenders once all the clearances are in place.

NTPC is the largest power generating company in the country. It has also diversified into hydro power, coal mining, power equipment manufacturing, oil & gas exploration, power trading & distribution.
