-3.15 (-0.34%) HDFC Bank, the second-largest private sector bank in India, has decided to charge Rs 20 per transaction beyond five free transactions at its own ATMs. At other bank’s ATMs in the six metros, the bank’s customers will be charged beyond three free transactions.
After the new Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines on ATM transactions released in September, HDFC Bank is the first private bank to impose charges on its customers for withdrawals at its own ATMs. This new charges will applicable from December 1, 2014.
This new charges will be applicable to only salary and savings account holders for using HDFC Bank ATMs beyond five transactions. However, the current account holders of the bank will not be charged for using HDFC Bank ATM.
HDFC Bank is one of India’s premier banks providing a wide range of financial products and services to its 28.9 million customers. As of June 30, 2014, the bank had a distribution network with 3,488 branches and 11,426 ATMs in 2,231 cities/towns.
