-7.00 (-0.35%) Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 19 countries across Asia and Africa, has launched 3.75G technology in Zambia. With this customers will be able to experience high speed mobile broadband access, make video calls and watch television live.
The 3.75G technology is the fastest available and a variety of users which includes large corporates, small or medium businesses and the youths, will be enormously benefited from this technology. It offers speeds up to 21 megabytes per second (mbps) and is similar to those being rolled out in Europe and the US.
Looking at these features the company sees 3.75G as a platform that will enable the community to expand its social and commercial horizons and not as a technology product.
With the objective of building the largest 3G network across the Africa, the company will be rolling out its data network across all its markets in the continent. There are currently 280 Airtel 3.75G sites across Zambia - covering all provincial districts. By the end of this year, the company aims to roll out up to 400.
