Coal India has received ‘in principle approval’ from its board to form two joint ventures (JVs) for revival of Talcher unit. The first JV will be with GAIL for Coal Gasification while, another one will be with RCF for fertilizer i.e Ammonium Nitrate (AN) plants, coal mine, coal washery, power plant & utilities.

In first JV GAIL will be the major partner, while in the second JV Coal India will be the major stake holder.

Coal India is the world’s largest coal mining company. It also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications.
