M&M reports 6% fall in January’s tractor sales

Auto major, Mahindra & Mahindra’s (M&M) Farm Equipment Sector (FES) division has reported a fall of 5.59% in tractor sales to 19,354 units in January. The company had sold 20,499 units in the corresponding month last year.

The company's domestic sales declined by 7.62% to 17,950 units during the month under review from 19,430 units in the year-ago period. Exports increased by 31% to 1,404 units during the month.

The company’s net profit after tax for the September quarter marginally declined by 2.78% of Rs 737.38 crore as compared to Rs 758.49 crore for September quarter of the year 2010. The company’s total income increased by 34.75% at Rs 7592.14 crore for Q2FY12 as compared to Rs 5634.13 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
