NTPC, the largest power generator in the country has commenced the commercial operation of Unit-I of 195 MW of Muzaffarpur Thermal Power Station, Stage-II of Kanti Bijlee Utpadan Nigam (A subsidiary Company of NTPC) on March 31, 2015. With this, the total installed capacity of Muzaffarpur Thermal Power Station has become 415 MW and the total installed capacity of NTPC group has become 44398 MW.

NTPC is the largest power generating company in the country. It has also diversified into hydro power, coal mining, power equipment manufacturing, oil & gas exploration, power trading & distribution.
