102.05 (0.70%) Maruti Suzuki is reportedly all set to drive in the country's most fuel-efficient and smallest 800cc diesel engine in the next two months that will be strapped on its Celerio compact car and soon-to-be-launched mini commercial vehicle.
The engine has been indigenously-developed by Maruti's parent Suzuki, and has been in the works for several years. Currently, the company sells diesel cars with a 1,300cc engine that it makes under licence from Italy’s Fiat. It also sources the diesel engine from Fiat and Tata's manufacturing joint venture in India.
