-48.30 (-1.53%) Mahindra Two Wheelers (MTWL), part of the $16.5 billion Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is reportedly planning to launch the Peugeot models and a three-wheeler scooter in India. MTWL that acquired Peugeot Scooters in January 2015 is also making efforts to make the three-wheeler scooter - Metropolis - more feasible for the Indian audience.
Already on sale in European market, the Peugeot Metropolis is powered with a 400cc, four-stroke engine boasted with liquid-cooled and electronic fuel injection technology. It churns out a maximum power of 37bhp at 7, 250rpm and 28lb-ft at 5, 500rpm. This engine is mated with a CVT (continuous variable transmission) that helps the scooter to achieve a top-speed of 144kmph.
Along with the Metropolis scooter, MTWL might also bring-in other Peugeot models - the Satelis 125 power scooter, the Django 125cc neo-retro scooter and the Speedfight 3 lightweight 125cc scooter.
