Power Grid plans to invest Rs 22,500 crore for expansion: Report

Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) is reportedly planning to invest Rs 22,500 crore this fiscal to fuel its expansion plans. The company has already invested Rs 4,000 crore for various projects in the last two months. The company has also planned to raise up to Rs 12,000 crore through domestic bonds during the year. 

Meanwhile, the company has earmarked a capital expenditure of up to Rs 1 lakh crore for five years, ending 2016-17. The company would be maintaining a 70:30 debt to equity ratio for its capex plans.

Power Grid Corporation of India is India’s principal electric power transmission company. It owns and operates most of India’s interstate and inter-regional electric power transmission systems with inter-regional power transfer capacity of about 20,800 MW and wheels nearly 45% of total power generated across India.
