Tata Motors set to launch Nano cars in Bangladesh

Date: 21-02-2012

Tata Motors is all set to launch its low-priced Nano cars in Bangladesh from early next month. The Nano, one of the smallest as well as the cheapest cars in the world, is likely to cost around 5,00,000 taka in Bangladesh. However, the price may vary depending on the government's decision on customs duty.

Tata Motors’ said car was scheduled to be launched in Bangladesh last October, but the pricing issue delayed it.

One of the Bangladesh’s company -- Nitol-Niloy Group -- is planning to import up to 2,000 Nano cars initially and the figure will be increased as per the to the demand. The Nitol-Niloy Group also expects Nano sales in Bangladesh could reach 10,000 annually in the next couple of years.

Tata Nano was launched in 2009 amid media hype and had shot into global fame as the world's cheapest car. This was Ratan Tata's dream project, and he virtually staked his own reputation on its success. There had been an overwhelming response from customers after the launch.
