Nestle buys Speciality Foods unit

Nestle India has approved the proposal to acquire Speciality Foods' healthcare nutrition business. The acquisition is set to be effective from January 1, 2010. Healthcare Nutrition plays a vital role in satisfying the needs of consumers with special nutritional requirements. This new business will further strengthen its leadership as a nutrition, health and wellness company.

The product portfolio under the Healthcare Nutrition Business includes Resource, Optifast and Spert. ‘Resource' is formulated for the management of malnutrition and other medical conditions associated with increased nutritional needs. ‘Optifast' is a nutrition supplement in overweight condition and ‘Spert' is a protein supplement to address the increased protein needs of the family.
