ABB bags Rs 506-cr Bangalore metro order

ABB has won a Rs 506-crore order to power the first phase of Bangalore's metro rail project. The power and automation technology leader won the turnkey order from the state-owned Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd.

ABB would design, supply, install and operate four sub-stations of 66/33 kV as well as the auxiliary and traction sub-stations. The 42-km Bangalore mass rapid transit system has two lines that operate on ground, elevated and underground, and 41 stations.

 

The rail industry is one of the company's growth areas and ABB is also participating in the metro projects of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. The company will supply transformers, capacitors, relays, cables and switchgear besides providing an integrated system to monitor and control the installations.
