Bharti Airtel strengthens on receiving approval to set-up payment bank

Bharti Airtel is currently trading at Rs. 387.50, up by 4.40 points or 1.15% from its previous closing of Rs 383.10 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 390.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 392.10 and Rs. 385.55 respectively. So far 58779 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 452.45 on 21-Jul-2015 and a 52 week low of Rs. 336.85 on 19-Dec-2014.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 398.00 and Rs. 373.45 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 154659.41 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 65.45% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 25.74% and 8.81% respectively.

Bharti Airtel has received an in-principle approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to set up payment bank under the Guidelines for Licensing of Payments Banks issued on November 27, 2014. Airtel M Commerce Services, a unit of the company has received approval from the apex bank.

Payments bank licence will allow companies to collect deposits (initially up to Rs 1 lakh per individual), offer Internet banking, facilitate money transfers and sell insurance and mutual funds.
