Tata Steel’s hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel output was higher in August than that registered during the corresponding month of the year-ago period. The production of hot metal was 15% up at 597,000 tonnes as against 518,000 tonnes, crude steel 16% higher at 552,000 tonnes as against 474,000 tonnes and saleable steel 14% up at 526,000 tonnes, against 460,000 tonnes.

Sales were 25 per cent higher at 492,000 tonnes, compared to 392,000 tonnes logged during the year ago period. Long products sales were up 81 per cent and the company achieved its best hot metal production of 597,319 tonnes. One of the steel melting shops recorded its best production of 326,100 tonnes. The previous best was 318,974 tonnes last August.
