Gayatri Projects Ltd, the Hyderabad-based infrastructure company, is planning to diversify into power generation from its conventional business of construction contracts. The company has prepared a plan to set up a 1320 megawatt thermal power unit in Andhra Pradesh at an outlay of Rs 7,000 crore.
The company has already finalized the coal linkage with Mahanadi Coal Fields. There are certain approvals which are under working stage & yet to achieve. The project’s final details should be ready by December 2009. As per the plan, the company would take up the power unit in two phases with each phase of 2X660 mw capacity.
Gayatri has construction contracts mostly in irrigation and roads. Currently, the company has an order-book of about Rs 6,000 crore. It is currently evaluating about 20 road projects opened up for construction by the NHAI. crackcrack
