TCS eyes $700-m outsourcing deals in Latin America

Date: 17-09-2009

Tata Consultancy Services is working on seven IT outsourcing deals worth over $100 million each in Latin America. These are from sectors such as telecom, banking, insurance and manufacturing and from companies operating in Mexico, Brazil and across the continent.

TCS uses Latin America as its base for domestic clients and international outsourcing engagements. A third of its business in the region is generated through software exports and the objective is to rev up margins on par with levels in India.

The company has, incidentally, opened a 10,000 sq.m. delivery centre in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which will employ nearly 250 people for a start. It will provide consulting, advanced IT solutions, business process outsourcing and IT product implementation services. TCS has 7,000 employees in Latin America, across Mexico, Argentina, Chile etc.
