Emco sells energy unit to GMR Energy

Transformer maker Emco Ltd sold its unit, Emco Energy Ltd, to GMR Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure Ltd. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed by Emco. Emco Energy was in the process of implementing a 300-megawatt thermal power project in the western state of Maharashtra.

Emco has unlocked the value to pursue larger opportunities in the power generation business. This strategy takes into consideration the changing power sector environment in which the emphasis is essentially on large size projects.
