Kalpataru Power Transmission gets Rs 373 crore order from Power Grid Corporation.

Date: 05-03-2009

Kalpataru Power Transmission, one of the major players in Transmission & Distribution project space has bagged Rs 373 crore order from Power Grid (PGCIL) for supply and erection of transmission towers and lines associated with Sasan Ultra Mega Power Projects.

In the past few months, the order flow from Power Grid has considerably dried up.  But after such a lull, order flows are trickling in with one order earlier to KEC international worth Rs 227 crore and now another worth Rs 373 crore to Kalpataru. As PowerGrid has investment plans of Rs 55000 crore in the 11th plan period, its orders are critical for power transmission and distribution equipment producers in India. Earlier, Kalpataru expanded its tower fabrication capacity by 28.6% to 108,000 MT in Sep 2008 and is well geared to capitalize on increase in T & D orders.
