JSW Steel is looking for completion of land lease agreements to achieve financial closure of the proposed steel plant in West Bengal. It aims to enter into a lease agreement with the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) for 189 acres dispersed within the project area of over 4,300 acres.

The company had proposed to set up a three-million tonne steel plant at Salboni in the West Midnapore district. JSW was already in talks with the State Government for sourcing of iron ore from neighboring States for proposed steel plant.

JSW Steel is part of the JSW group which, in turn, is a part of the O P Jindal group. JSW Steel is one of the largest steel manufacturing companies in India having units in Karnataka and Maharashtra producing crude steel, long steel and flat steel products.
