5.05 (0.43%) JSW Steel on reported an increase of 2 per cent in October crude steel production at 5.7 lakh tonnes over the corresponding month last year. The company had produced 5.59 lakh tonnes crude steel in the year-ago period. Its Vijaynagar plant could utilise only 67 per cent of its installed capacity due to shortage of iron ore. Even though the company procured iron ore through e-auctions, the availability of ore at plant remains a bottleneck due to procedural delays and logistics constrains in movement of ore. The company had produced 17.38 lakh tonnes crude steel in the second quarter of the current fiscal.
