Wipro is planning to invest Rs 800 crore in a project that will provide employment to 15,000 people. It would like to invest between Rs 700-800 crore in a project that will provide employment to 15,000 youths in the state. The details will be later announced by Premji himself. The project referred to is Wipro’s second campus which is slated to come up at Rajarhat. Incidentally, the Left Front government under Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee had allocated 50 acres to Wipro in Rajarhat for a second campus back in 2009 itself for Rs 100 crore. Of this, the company has so far paid Rs 25 crore. The company has thus far maintained that the delay in taking possession has been caused by the lack of infrastructure at the project site.
