DCB opens new rural branch in Gujarat

Date: 12-07-2011

Development Credit Bank (DCB) has inaugurated its new rural branch at Netrang, Bharuch in Gujarat. Following the launch of the branch, the bank now has three rural branches in Gujarat; the other two branches being in Dediapada and Mandvi.  Rural banking is a focus area for DCB Bank. The bank, since October 2007, runs a successful rural branch in Dediapada at Narmada district in Gujarat. The Dediapada branch, in particular, focuses on micro-deposits and savings accounts for low-income groups who had no access to banking previously.

Last month, the bank had inaugurated its second branch at Mandvi in Surat district. The bank already services an estimated 1.50 lakh rural households in Gujarat through innovative loan and deposit products. The Netrang branch is expected to bring in additional households.

The bank has a strong retail focus in Gujarat, already serving customers across 14 cities. Historically too, the Bank has roots in Gujarat having established some of its earliest branches there.

DCB’s business segments include retail, micro-SMEs, large SMEs, mid-Corporates, agriculture, commodities, government, public sector, Indian banks, co-operative banks and non banking finance companies (NBFC). DCB has approximately 600,000 customers.
