0.40 (0.10%) Coal India will put on hold its new pricing system for state power utilities in West Bengal for a month following a communication from the Calcutta High Court. The new pricing was effective January 1. The next hearing is scheduled on February 16 and we will not raise bills at least till that time. This is expected to have a national ramification since power utilities in other sates could use this as a pretext for resisting the movement to the new pricing system that is likely to raise prices of various category of coal by at least 40%. A meeting between the coal and power ministries on the new pricing system is scheduled this week.
