The scrip opened at Rs 173.90 and has touched a high and low of Rs 174.30 and Rs 172.05 respectively.
The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Re 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 194.90 on 31-Mar-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs 152.00 on 23-Nov-2011.
Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 181.50 and Rs 170.50 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 1,42,564 crore.
The promoters holding in the company stood at 84.50% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 11.67% and 3.83% respectively.
NTPC is likely to execute three big hydel projects with a total capacity of 942 MW in Uttarakhand. The three projects are Tapovan Vishnugad (520 MW), Rupsiyabagar-Khasiabara (261 MW) and Lata Topovan (171 MW) in the hill state.
The company chose Uttarakhand as it will be getting 12% of free power which is equal to 300 million units. Other benefits like local area development, enhancement of life of bonafides and income generation will also be given. It has completed more than 60% of the tunnel work of Tapovan project.
The entity has also relocated two temples in the area successfully. As part of the government policy, it is also planning to provide power to the rural population in the radius of 5 km from the project.
