GAIL to commission first phase of Kochi-Mangalore Pipeline Project by 2012-13

GAIL India will commission first phase of its Kochi-Mangalore Pipeline Project by FY 2012-13. Kochi-Mangalore pipeline project consists of two phases. In the first phase, the company will lay 40 km pipeline in Kochi region out of which 33.5 km of pipeline has been welded and lowered so far.

In the second phase, GAIL plans to lay pipeline from Kochi to Bangalore / Mangalore. So far, laying contracts has been awarded in January 2012 and mobilization of equipment and manpower is in progress. The company anticipates completion of second phase in FY 2013-14.

Gail (India) is India's flagship gas transmission and marketing company under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. The company has posted a surge of 12.79% in its net profit of Rs 1091.42 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2011 as compared to Rs 967.63 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income has increased by 31.97% from Rs 8,574.21 crore for Q3FY11 to Rs 11,315.50 crore in the quarter under review.
