-96.30 (-1.01%) Bajaj Auto, country’s major manufacturer of three- and two-wheelers, has strengthened its market share during April-February 2011-12, even as the market has contracted. The company has increased overall market share to 39.39% from 36% of last financial year driven by increasing volumes in diesel vehicles.
The company has registered a growth this year with diesel vehicles also complementing its overall volumes this year, while the country's three-wheeler market has witnessed mixed patterns, with three-wheeler petrol passenger vehicles registering lower volumes, the diesel market have grown by about 2%.
The company carried on to hold nearly 85-86% in petrol and alternative fuel option vehicles. The diesel vehicle segment has also contributed to volume growth this year. Recently, Bajaj Auto developed a four-wheeler passenger auto and showcased it at the New Delhi Auto show. The company generates overall sales volumes of 45,000 vehicles a month, which includes significant contribution from exports to over 17-18 countries.
