Tata Motors spurts as its arm JLR reports 18% growth in May sales

Tata Motors is currently trading at Rs 463.40, up by 2.65 points or 0.58% from its previous closing of Rs 460.75 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 466.95 and has touched a high and low of Rs 467.00 and Rs 459.75 respectively. So far 376376 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 464.90 on 06-Jun-2016 and a 52 week low of Rs. 266.00 on 11-Feb-2016.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 464.90 and Rs. 443.95 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 133821.89 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 33.01% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 41.30% and 8.65% respectively.

Tata Motors’ subsidiary -- Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has reported its best ever May retail sales of 44,946 vehicles, up 18% from May 2015. This is the company's fifth consecutive record-breaking month. The company sold 245,100 vehicles in the first five months of 2016, up 23% compared to the same period in the prior year. Retail sales for the month of May too were up year-on-year across all regions, 28% in China, 24% in Europe, 23% in the UK and 8% in North America. Other overseas markets were up 6% year-on-year.

Tata Motors is India's largest automobile company. Through subsidiaries and associate companies, Tata Motors has operations in the UK, South Korea, Thailand, South Africa and Indonesia. Among them is Jaguar Land Rover, the business comprising the two iconic British brands.
