-10.20 (-2.87%) NTPC’s joint venture (JV) - BIFPCL has signed contract agreement for Main Plant EPC (Turnkey) Package with Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL), India to construct 2x660 MW Maitree Super Thermal Power Project at Rampal Upazila under Bagerhat district of Bangladesh.
BIFPCL selected BHEL through an international open bidding process. The construction of this prestigious project will contribute immensely to the overall development of Bangladesh especially its power sector. The contract value of the project is $1.49 billion which will be financed by Indian Exim Bank. The plant is expected to come to generation during the financial year 2019-20.
Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company (BIFPCL) is a company registered in Bangladesh and promoted by BPDB of Bangladesh and NTPC of India with equal (50:50) equity contribution for development of power project(s) in Bangladesh.
NTPC is an Indian central Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, engaged in the business of generation of electricity and allied activities.
