M&M rises on plan to consolidate R&D units under newly-launched MRV

Mahindra & Mahindra is currently trading at Rs. 697.95, up by 2.75 points or 0.40% from its previous closing of Rs. 695.20 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 695.30 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 699.50 and Rs. 690.15 respectively. So far 17,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 874.75 on 28-Oct-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 617.00 on 20-Jun-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 700.50 and Rs. 682.55 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 42,852 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 25.34% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 46.61% and 22.30% respectively.

Auto major, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) will merge its research and development (R&D) units in the country under the newly-launched Mahindra Research Valley (MRV). The company has three R&D units in the country.

The Mahindra Research Valley, for which an investment of Rs 650 crore has been made so far is located at the Mahindra City Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Singaperumal Koil in Chengalput.

The company's one of the successful models, the global Sports Utility Vehicle -- XUV500, was designed in the Mahindra Research Valley, adding currently there were about 1,500 engineers working in Research Valley.
