SpiceJet to start flight services between Chennai and Port Blair

SpiceJet, India’s most preferred budget airline will start flight services between Chennai and Port Blair and has already opened the booking of tickets for the same. Port Blair would be the airlines’ 35th destinations in India. At present, the airline operates its services to 34 destinations in India, apart from 2 international flights (Colombo and Kathmandu).

Booking for tickets has started and passengers willing to fly Port Blair can now book tickets at SpiceJet’s official website. Flight services will start from May 2012, offering timely air connectivity for passengers at a reasonable price.

The company will be operating 4 flights a week on this route (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). The airline is deploying a Boeing aircraft on this route.

SpiceJet has 16.5% market share as of January and it operates 270 flights a day connecting 32 domestic cities and two global destinations -- Kathmandu and Colombo. For the December quarter, the carrier reported a loss of Rs 39.30 crore on the back of a 90% spike in fuel costs, but ruled out fare hike. The airline had a profit of Rs 94.44 crore, a year ago.
